For many hotels, the spa area is an important part of the guest experience. A salt room is a natural addition to it – a service that adds variety to a stay and rounds off the wellness offering. In this article we look at why a salt room is a good choice for a hotel and what matters when building one.
Salt therapy is associated with preventive care for the respiratory system and with a sense of relaxation, so guests see it as a beneficial and enjoyable part of their stay. The room can be tailored to the hotel’s audience – for example a family setting, an adults-only concept or a more specific guest profile.
A well-executed salt room becomes a sought-after experience and helps a hotel stand out from its competitors. It can be included in packages, offered as a separate treatment, or form part of spa access – the model depends on the venue’s concept.

Hotel salt rooms run under heavier use, so they need reliable equipment that is easy to maintain. At the design stage we specify our in-house halogenerator, ventilation, underfloor heating, internal electrics and lighting to match the number of visitors and the operating schedule. On some projects, one halogenerator can serve two salt rooms at the same time.
The look of the salt room can follow the hotel’s style – from a natural, cave-like character to a clean, modern spa feel. We use white Greek salt for the salt plaster and the floor, Himalayan salt bricks, backlit salt elements, hidden lighting and adjustable lights and colours, and, depending on the project, effects such as a starry sky.
Construction most often takes around 20–30 calendar days once the site is ready for work, depending on the project and our current workload. On completion we set up the systems, train staff to operate the room, give guidance on serving guests, and remain available for service, consumables and follow-up questions.
